What this site is and is not

VaultPass provides educational tools and explanatory content about password security and privacy. Its limits are worth stating explicitly:

• It is not a professional security audit. The strength checker's estimates are indicative and rest on assumptions that cannot be verified from outside, such as the algorithm each service uses to store passwords.
• It does not guarantee that an account is secure. A good score says nothing about whether the password is reused, whether the service has been breached, or whether you have fallen for a scam.
• It is not legal advice. References to regulation are explanatory.
• The personal-data detector is not exhaustive. It recognises fixed-format patterns; it cannot identify everything that is sensitive in your context. The final review always rests with the user.

Terms of use

Access is free and open, with no registration. By using the site you undertake to do so lawfully and, in particular, not to use the tools to attempt access to accounts belonging to others or for any purpose that harms third parties.

The owner may modify, suspend or withdraw any content or tool without prior notice.

Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is". The owner is not liable for damage arising from use of the site, from decisions taken on the basis of its results, or from service interruptions or errors in the content.

Reasonable care is taken to keep the information correct and current, but information security changes and some recommendations may date. Publication and review dates appear on every article precisely so you can judge for yourself.

Some content links to third-party pages. The owner does not control those sites and is not responsible for their content or their privacy policies.

Intellectual property

The text, design, brand and code of this site belong to its owner unless another licence is stated. You may quote extracts with attribution and a link to the source. Reproducing whole articles without permission is not allowed.
